Five arrested over clash between student groups of leading Colombo schools

Sri Lanka police spokesman Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Prishantha Jayakody said that police had arrested five persons over the clash between two groups of students of Colombo Royal College and Thurston College.
The clash took place today near Thurston College when the schools were over after 1:30 p.m. Police say that three students and a police official were injured in the clash and a police officer of Cinnamon Gardens police station was admitted to the Colombo National Hospital. However, none of them suffered life threatening injuries, the police said. Minister of Education Bandula Gunawardena announced today that the classes of Grades 10, 11, 12 and 13 of both Royal College and Thurstan College will be closed from tomorrow until October 29. Principals of the two schools held talks regarding the incident in the evening. Cinnamon Gardens police are conducting the investigations.
