Supreme Court of Sri Lanka today postponed the hearing of a bail application filed by the former Army Commander Sarath Fonseka to the 09th of May.
The bail application of Sarath Fonseka was taken up today by a three-judge bench, two seats void of a five-judge panel.
The Court ordered the superintendent of Welikada prison to submit a report regarding the health status of Fonseka following submissions of Fonseka's lawyer Nalin Ladduwahetti who stated the health situation of his client was rapidly deteriorating. The appeal filed by Sarath Fonseka against the verdict of the white flag case was also postponed by courts today for further consideration in future. Fonseka is currently serving a three-year prison term after he was found guilty last November by a civil court for inciting violence in the White Flag case.
