Sri Lankan President to visit South Korea

Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa is to leave for South Korea on a four-day official visit next week. Cabinet Spokesman and Acting Media Minister Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena said at the cabinet press briefing today that during the President's visit to Korea from April 23-27, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two governments will be signed to enhance bilateral relations. With the view to further strengthening the existing friendship and economic cooperation between the two countries, the Government of Korea has agreed to provide technical and financial assistance for development programs of Sri Lanka. The cabinet has given approval for the Minister of External Affairs, Prof. G.L. Peiris, to sign for the MoU during the President's visit.
