Silva has made this comment during an event in Negombo, where he has observed that certain media have published false news reports of bribery investigations into him. "This is a public statement. If any of these people who are claiming that there are corruption charges against can prove these allegations, I will quit politics after telling the people since I have been elected with 150,000 public votes," he has said. Silva has noted that he had visited the Bribery Commission to make a statement about a complaint made by him about the Kelaniya Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman. The controversial minister has denied ever being involved in corruption but admitted he may have minor faults.
