Working Committee of Sri Lanka's main opposition to meet today to discuss disciplinary issues

The Working Committee (WC) of Sri Lanka's main opposition United National Party (UNP) is to meet today for the first time after the appointment of new office bearers last month. The WC meeting is to be held at the party headquarters, Sirikotha this morning.
The committee members are to discuss the filling of vacancies that exist in the party, the setting up of the agenda for party activities this year and initiating disciplinary action against members who have acted against the party. UNP sources told ColomboPage that special focus is also to be paid to disciplinary action to be instituted against the members involved in attacking Sirikotha last month and members who are holding meetings at district level without party approval. A final decision on whether or not to hold disciplinary inquiries against Deputy Leader Sajith Premadasa and MP Dayasiri Jayasekara is also to be taken today. Premadasa is currently engaged in a campaign to meet with the party's local government members at district level.
