The house of an organizer of Sri Lanka's main opposition United National Party (UNP) in the South was shot at during the early hours of Friday.
Unidentified gunmen have shot at the house of Nilame Tennekoon, who is the chief organizer for the UNP in the Southern Province, around 2:30 a.m. today.
No injuries have been reported due to the shooting incident.
Tennekoon and his family had been at the residence when the incident had occurred.
He has said everyone was asleep when they had suddenly heard an explosion and gunfire that had lasted for several minutes.
Tennekoon has said that he saw several persons fleeing in a vehicle when he walked out of the house.
Police are conducting an investigation into the incident.
