Sri Lanka political observers say the Western media sympathetic to the Tamil Tiger terrorist group is sensationalizing a female Tiger cadre as a TV star and calling for an investigation into her death during the battle.
The media reports in the Western press are calling the female Tiger cadre known as Issipriya, who has been a reporter for the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) when she was not in the battle, as a TV star and have urged an international inquiry into her death.
According to the Sri Lanka Defence Ministry which has a dossier on Issipriya, the female rebel joined the LTTE military wing and had undergone military training. She has later joined the LTTE's clandestine radio 'Voice of Tigers (VOT)' that spread LTTE propaganda from Wanni in the Northern Province of Sri Lanka.

The Defence Ministry in its own article says Britain's television station Channel 4 in ts documentary "Sri Lanka's Killing Fields" has noted that Issipriya inspired and glorified Black Tiger cadres who carried out suicide missions across the country.
Issipriya has not had any professional qualifications as a journalist nor was she a member of any professional journalists' organization. Yet the New York-based media rights organization, Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) Tuesday alleged that the Sri Lankan government executed the journalist and called for an international inquiry into her death.
The French news agency AFP then carried the news in an article with the sensational headline "Probe Urged into Sri Lanka TV Star's 'Execution'" describing her as a TV anchor.
Political observers in Sri Lanka say the pro-LTTE elements in the West are using the western media to spread their propaganda and fulfill the outfit's separatist agenda by legitimizing the rebels and the terrorist organization they funded to brutalize the country for 30 years.
