Sri Lanka's Youth Affairs Minister and senior SLFP member, Dullas Alahapperuma has said that the main opposition United National party (UNP) has abused state resources.
Alahapperuma has told the media that the UNP while accusing the government of abusing state resources has in fact been the largest abuser of the resources.
He has said that UNP parliamentarian Mangala Samaraweera owed the Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation (SLRC) Rs.18, 796,967 for air time related election propaganda.
According to the Minister, the SLFP owed the SLRC only Rs.166,675 which was recently settled.
Alahapperuma has also showed a document of the Committee on Public Enterprises (COPE) to the media at the press conference which stated the amounts owed to SLRC by each political party.
According to the document, the UPFA owed Rs.13,586,562 and the JHU Rs. 493,000. Others who owed the SLRC included the Prime Minister's office, the Media Ministry and other parties.
