Sri Lanka Opposition Leader Ranil Wickremasinghe says there is a lack of clarity to the reference made about 'difficult decisions' by the President in his Independence Day speech this year.
Addressing an election rally in the Gampaha District, the United National Party (UNP) leader has called on the President to explain the difficult decisions taken by him and the government.
Sri Lanka President Mahinda Rajapaksa addressing the nation on Independence Day said the country cannot be developed solely on popular decisions and inconvenient and difficult decisions are also necessary for the nation's progress.
According to Wickremasinghe, the difficult decisions made by the President maybe the burden of maintaining a huge number of ministers and incurring unnecessary expenditure.
The Opposition Leader has added that the President maybe even considering the increase of consumer goods prices.
However, he has said the government needed to tell the public what the difficult decisions have been.
