Sri Lanka health authorities to initiate stern action on unsanitary Colombo eateries

Colombo Municipal Council says that legal action will be initiated against around 100 owners of eateries in Colombo city on health and hygiene violations.

They are alleged of selling unhealthy and outdated food.

The health division of the Colombo Municipal Council raided around 600 eateries so far this year, Municipal authorities say.

The Environment Police units extended the support to the Colombo Municipal Council to conduct the raids, sources say.

Health Department says that a survey revealed that the 18% of the tested food samples of Colombo eateries contained germs.
