Four members from Sri Lanka's Marxist JVP arrested while pasting posters

Police arrested several members of Sri Lanka's Marxist party today when they were pasting posters on the party's national convention scheduled for Thursday (10).

The Moratuwa Police have arrested four Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) members around 2 am when they were pasting posters and the party's media unit says the members have been arrested and detained without giving any reason.

Meanwhile, Colombo Municipal Councilor and JVP member Hemantha Weerakoon has lodged a complaint with the Kirulapona Police about another incident that had taken place today.

Weerakoon had made a complaint to the police under CIB 246/77 about the destruction of posters pasted by the JVP on billboard reserved for posters.

He has said that the thugs who had removed the posters when inquired had told him that they were following "orders from the top."
