Sri Lanka to make public service more people-friendly through e-Government programme

Sri Lanka's Public service will be made more people-friendly through the e-Government programme says Telecommunications and Information Technology Minister Ranjith Siyambalapitiya.

The Minister said that through the Re-engineering Government Programme implemented by the Information and Communication Agency of Sri Lanka (ICTA) under the e-Sri Lanka initiative, instant issuance of certified copies of vital records has been facilitated.

The Minister expressed these views while inaugurating the programme to issue certified copies of marriage, birth, and death certificates in a few minutes at the Kegalle District Secretariat last Friday.

Speaking further on the occasion the Minister said that there would be a huge transformation in the country's information technology sector.

"A programme that ensures the public to receive service more comfortably by enhancing the people's IT knowledge will be prepared," the Minister emphasized.
