Sri Lanka Marxist party to focus on creating awareness about government corruption during poll campaign

Sri Lanka's Marxist party Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) said Friday that the party would commence its election campaign for the local government elections from tomorrow (29)
.JVP Propaganda Secretary and parliamentarian Vijitha Herath told a press conference today that the party would work to bring in a new political culture to the country through the local government elections.

Herath said the party would focus on creating awareness among the public of the corruption in the government and emphasize the need for a new path for the country during its election campaign.

The JVP is to contest for 275 local government bodies and is fielding 4,526 candidates through the lists.
