UK Defence Secretary Dr. Liam Fox to visit Sri Lanka next week

The Defence Secretary of the United Kingdom, Dr. Liam Fox is scheduled to arrive in Sri Lanka to deliver the Lakshman Kadirgamar Memorial Lecture on December 18.

External Affairs Ministry sources confirmed to the media today that Dr. Fox will arrive in Sri Lanka to deliver the lecture.

The UK's Defence Secretary's visit comes weeks after the cancellation of Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa's speech at the Oxford Union.

External Affairs Minister Prof. G.L. Peiris is to preside over the Lakshman Kadirgamar Memorial Lecture.
