Four Tamil Nadu fishermen, stranded in mid sea off here after their boat drowned near Katchatheevu island were rescued by fellow fishermen today.
The fishermen from Akkaraipettai in Jegadhapattinam of Pudukottai district had ventured into sea yesterday. Their boat had capsized due to rough weather, officials said.
They were rescued by another group of fishermen from Rameswaram who brought them here this morning and handed them over to assistant director of fisheries.
In another incident, four fishermen of Pudukottai were rescued by another group of fishermen after their boat suffered damage due to rough weather.
The fishermen of Vanagiri in Pudukottai were fishing in the sea in a Nagapattinam-registered boat when the vessel suffered damage due to rough weather. The damaged boat was towed to Rameswaram with the help of another fishing boat.
The boat was being repaired with the assistance of Tamilnadu fisheries department, officials said.
