Sri Lanka to directly import oil and gas from Oman

Sri Lanka has reached an agreement with Oman to directly purchase oil and gas from the Sultanate.
During a bilateral meeting held at the Ministry yesterday Petroleum Industries Minister Susil Premajayantha has held discussions with the Omani Ambassador to Sri Lanka Ali Al Ma'ani on directly importing crude oil, gas and lubricants.

The Minister has told the local media that a tour to Oman will take place soon to seek the possibility of importing gas and crude oil at concessionary prices.

The Omani diplomat has informed the Sri Lankan Minister that his country's business community is very keen to invest in Sri Lanka and pointed out the need to strengthen the bilateral ties between the two countries.

Ali Al Ma'ani has said that the Oman's businessmen are particularly keen in investing in agriculture and infrastructure as post-war Sri Lanka is remarkably progressing in social and economic development.

Highlighting that over seven flights per week fly between Sri Lanka and Oman, the diplomat has noted that Sri Lanka's tourism industry has shown a significant development.

The Omani diplomat assured his country's continued support for Sri Lanka's development.
