Special security plan for Sri Lanka parliament ahead of budget presentation

Sri Lanka has planned a special security set up for the parliament, the Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa says.

Accordingly, the entire parliamentary building is to be searched including the MPs' offices and restrooms on November 18 and 19, the Speaker announced.
President Mahinda Rajapaksa is expected to be present in the parliament on November 22 to present the budget in his capacity as the Minister of Finance.
The Speaker stated that the public gallery of the parliament will be reserved only for the invited guests on the day of the presentation of the budget. The parking arrangements have also been changed, he said.
