Marxist party of Sri Lanka to protest against the taxes imposed by government

Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP), the Marxist party of Sri Lanka, has decided to hold a series of protests against what it terms as a large number of taxes that have burdened the people.

The protests are to be held to demand the government to free the people from the tax burden.

The party has named this campaign as the People's Force against the Tax Burden.

The first in the series of protests is to be held Thursday at 3:00 p.m., opposite the Fort Railway Station in Colombo.

According to the JVP media unit, the protest would also call on the government to reduce the rising cost of living and to increase salaries of the working masses.
