Sri Lanka's main opposition to aim at strengthening rural vote base

Sri Lanka's main opposition United National Party (UNP) said today (28) that it was important to strengthen the party's rural vote base.

UNP deputy leader Karu Jayasuriya told a press conference on the Grama Charika porgramme that through the party's latest programme, it hopes to reach out to the rural voter in order to strengthen the rural vote base.
The UNP Working Committee last month approved the Grama Charika programme aimed at taking the party policies to the grass root levels prior to the local government elections.

The programme is to commence on Saturday (30) from the Horana electorate.
