The Colombo High Court today sentenced director of Hicorp (Pvt) Limited, Wellington Dehoedt who was accused in Hicorp arms deal to five years Rigorous Imprisonment.
Wellington pleaded guilty on 12 counts at the Colombo High Court today. He was accused on 20 counts.
The Court indicted Danuna Tilakaratne and Wellington Dehoedt, along with former Army Commander General Sarath Fonseka in July on 21 counts under the Public Property Act.
The first accused Tilakaratne who is the son-in-law of ex-Army Commander Sarath Fonseka remains at large and believed to have fled the country. Dehoedt is the second accused in the case.
Dehoedt was arrested by the Criminal Investigations Division (CID) on January 7, 2010 for his alleged involvement in defrauding the government by presenting forged documents to the Sri Lanka Army, while the company was supplying equipment.
