Publicity hoardings in Sri Lankan capital under Defense Ministry control

Sri Lanka government has vested the powers of granting permission for erecting publicity hoardings in Colombo city to the Ministry of Defense, the Colombo Municipal Council sources say.

Up to now the advertisers could erect publicity hoardings in Colombo city with the permission from the Colombo Municipal Council.
Now, the advertisers will have to seek the permission of the Ministry of Defense with the recommendations of the Urban Development Authority for setting up of the hoardings under a directive sent to the competent authority of the Colombo Municipal Council by the government.
