The hearings of Sri Lanka's controversial "white flag" case against former Army Commander and Democratic National Alliance (DNA) leader Sarath Fonseka was postponed till November 2 following a power failure in the court complex.
The trial-at-bar into the "white flag" case was taken up in the Colombo High Court today, but had to be stopped shortly afterwards due to the power failure.
When the sessions were adjourned, The Sunday Leader Editor Frederica Jansz was being cross-examined by the defense counsel.
Fonseka was accused of disclosing state secrets for allegedly telling The Sunday Leader newspaper in an interview that Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa had ordered the shooting of senior LTTE cadres who tried to surrender to the security forces carrying white flags during the final stages of the war last year.
Meanwhile, Power and Energy Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka had reportedly ordered the Ceylon Electricity Board to conduct an immediate inquiry into the reported power failure.
