A Petition Demanding The Release Of General

A petition demanding the release of former Army Commander General Sarath Fonseka was launched at 10 a.m. today.

The signing of the petition is continued opposite Fort Railway station which was initiated by the Movement for Democracy. Along with Mrs Anoma Fonseka, the leader of the JVP, Mr Somawansa Amarasinghe, Opposition Leader, Mr Ranil Wickramasinghe, Messrs Wickramabahu Karunaratne, Siritunga Jayasuriya and several other Members of Parliament participated in this occasion.

The petition was first signed by Mrs Anoma Fonseka. Then it was signed by Messrs Somawansa Amarasinghe and Ranil Wickramasinghe followed by others. A large enthusiastic crowd has formed a queue to place their signature in this petition.
