Deputy Minister of Economic Development Ranjith Siyambalapitiya addressing a Public rally at Moneragala has revealed the government's decision to hold all the celebrations for the 63rd Independence Day which falls on February 04, 2011 in the Moneragala district.
Kataragama Raja Veediya has been selected as the venue for the Independent Day parade where the Head of State will address the nation followed by a Guard of Honour with full military honours.
The 'Deyata Kirula' exhibition held every year for a week to coincide with the Independence Day will be held from 4th to 11th February 2011 at Buttala in the Moneragala district.
The Deputy Minister said that several development projects at a cost of Rs 15 billion have been earmarked for the entire district. The government plans to complete several infrastructure facilities needed for the livelihood of the people in the district before the event.
The infrastructure development projects slated for the district includes renovation of irrigation tanks and reservoirs, roadways, hospitals and other common facilities.
