Sri Lanka's Marxist party launches island wide poster campaign against Fonseka's court martial verdicts

Sri Lanka's Marxist party, Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) has launched an island wide poster campaign calling to withdraw the second court martial decision against former Army Commander and Democratic National Alliance (DNA) Leader retired General Sarath Fonseka.

The second court martial recommended that Fonseka be imprisoned for a period not exceeding three years after being found guilty of four charges related to irregularities in procuring military equipment.
The JVP is the key constituent partner of the DNA and the party has decided to carry out a separate campaign calling for Fonseka's release simultaneous to the ones carried out by the DNA.
JVP sources told ColomboPage that as the key constituent party of the DNA, it would also carry out a series of agitation campaigns calling for Fonseka's release and to create awareness among the public about the unjust verdicts of the two courts martial against Fonseka.
