Airbus employees heading for Tamil Nadu

A Bristol-based Airbus employee will soon leave for Tamil Nadu to take part in a conservation project run by the aeroplane company.

James Leather, 27, has been chosen to join a team of 16 Airbus employees from all around the world to spend three weeks in a forest community in the Nilgiri district.
The team will help improve the living standards of tribal villagers by introducing biogas technology for cooking and heating.
Leather beat 467 other applicants to his place, and as part of his application had to explain why biodiversity is important to him.
The aerospace engineer was attracted to the expedition because he was keen to help provide a biogas plant for a needy community.
He said: "I think it will be an exciting adventure and something completely out of the ordinary. There will be a real sense of achievement as building the biogas plants will be a huge physical and mental challenge".
