Sri Lanka's Higher Education Ministry states that 99 percent of the university curriculum will be conducted in English from next year.
Higher Education Minister S.B. Dissanayake told parliament that special classes would be conducted for the undergraduates who are weak in English to enable them to follow the lessons.
Dissanayake made this comment in response to a question posed by Democratic National Alliance (DNA) parliamentarian Sunil Handunnetti.
The Minister said that lecturers from India would train local lecturers who are incompetent in English.
