Sri Lankan President orders IGP to arrest suspects involved in the attack on the Deputy Tax Commissioner.

Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa has ordered the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to immediately arrest the suspects involved in the attack on the Deputy Tax Commissioner of the Inland Revenue Department (IRD), HM. Denzil in Matara last week.

The President's order came as officers at the IRD head office and other branches of the Tax Department yesterday (18) launched a sick note campaign protesting the attack on the Deputy Tax Commissioner.
The President has also asked the IGP to ensure the security of all IRD employees.
Finance and Planning Ministry in a statement has said that all necessary action has been taken on the directions of the President.

The Ministry has also launched an investigation into the incident in addition to police investigations.
