Sri Lanka to amend Film Corporation Act

Sri Lanka government has decided to amend the Sri Lanka Film Corporation Act to adjust the local cinema industry into modern times.



Minister of Mass Media Keheliya Rambukwella said today at a discussion held in the Ministry of Mass Media that the Film Corporation Act would be completely amended in order to take the Sri Lankan cinema industry to new heights.
The amended bill will be submitted to parliament soon, the Minister said.
The Minister held talks with veteran cinema artistes and the top officials of the Film Corporation including Chairman Kumar Abeysinghe this morning.
The Minister instructed the officials to prepare estimates for a film archives to be constructed in the future.
Secretary to the Ministry W.B. Ganegala, parliamentarian, and veteran actress Malini Fonseka and several others also participated in the discussion.
