Sri Lanka Supreme Court warns newspaper editor and dismisses charges

Sri Lanka's Supreme Court Wednesday warned a Sinhala weekly newspaper editor and dismissed the contempt of court charges against him.

The Bench comprising Chief Justice Asoka de Silva and Justice N.G. Amaratunga also ordered the editor of the Lanka Irida newspaper, Chandana Sirimalwatte to publish a correction on a news item which appeared in hia newspaper in June this year.
The Supreme Court delivered the order following an apology in court by Sirimalwatte when the charges against him were taken up before the Bench today.
