Randiv apologizes, Sri Lanka Cricket asks for an immediate inquiry into no-ball

Sri Lanka Cricket today said that it is perturbed and disconcerted by the news reports that Suraj Randiv deliberately no-balled India's Virender Sehwag denying him a century at yesterday's match between the two teams at Dambulla.

Sri Lanka Cricket team has apologized to the Indian team today for the unsportsmanlike action and Randiv has personally apologized to Sehwag for the spur of the moment action, the Indian Team Manager said.
Issuing a statement SLC said cricket officials have requested the Sri Lanka National Team Manager, Anura Tennekoon, to conduct an immediate internal inquiry and forward a comprehensive report in this regard and action will be taken accordingly.
"Sri Lanka Cricket being winners of the 'ICC Spirit of the game' award for two consecutive years is extremely proud of its Team and their achievements and conduct both on and off the field, as such it is necessary to clear the good name of Sri Lanka Cricket and Sri Lanka as a sporting nation, on a priority basis," Sri Lanka Cricket said.
At the ODI in the triangular series yesterday Randiv's no-ball ended the match when Sehwag was at 99 although he hit a six on his final delivery which would have taken the score to 105. The action was not a rule violation.
After the match which India won by six wickets Sehwag accused Randiv of playing the no-ball deliberately.
