Opposition MP gives evidence before first Court Martial against Sri Lanka's former Army Commander.

The first Court Martial against Sri Lanka's former Army Commander and Democratic National Alliance (DNA) parliamentarian General (Retired) Sarath Fonseka was held today without the defence counsel in attendance for two days in a row.

When the Court martial proceeded without the defence counsel for the second consecutive day, main opposition United National Party (UNP) parliamentarian Lakshman Seneviratne gave evidence before the Court.
Sources close to General Fonseka's family told ColomboPage the defence counsel had informed the Court Martial that they would not be appearing for the case, as they were on vacation.
Seneviratne is the third witness in the first Court Martial against the General for his alleged involvement in politics while being in the active service.
The first Court Martial is to resume sittings on Thursday (12) morning.
