Indian court convicts six LTTE sympathizers

Assistant sessions court in Tambaram, Chennai has convicted six LTTE sympathizers and sentenced them to one year imprisonment in a case registered against them by the Indian Q Branch police in 2007, Indian daily Times of India reported Wednesday.

The report said that the Q Branch personnel had arrested five LTTE sympathizers, Thambianna, Senjames, Jayakumar, Pushpadanraj, Bominathan and Ravikumar, for trying to smuggle out a boat to Sri Lanka for the alleged use of the LTTE.
The Q Branch officials had alleged that the accused connived and purchased a boat from the south of Tamil Nadu and were trying to smuggle it to Sri Lanka from Ramnad.
According to the report, Police have said Senjames and the others had purchased the boat on the direction of Thambianna.
the Police have arrested them from Chennai in 2007 and had seized 450,000 Indian rupees from them.

Assistant sessions court judge Sivakumar has held all the six accused arrested in the case as guilty of the offence and sentenced them.
