4,786 court-martialed during the reign of Sri Lanka's ex-Army Commander

Sri Lanka's ruling party MP Sajin de Vaas Gunawardhana said in the parliament today that 4,786 Army officials were court-martialed during the tenure of retired General Sarath Fonseka as the Army Commander.

He said if the ruling by court martial against him is unfair the same logic applies to the all those cases as well.
The MP highlighted these facts participating in the debate following a question raised on the court martial ruling to cancel the pension of the war veteran.
The question was raised by the opposition United National Party MP Ravi Karunanayaka.
In response to the question, Chief Government Whip and Minister of Water Supply and Drainage Dinesh Gunawardena, said that the law cannot be changed according to the personal interests of the MP Karunanayaka.
