64 die in bomb attacks in Uganda during World Cup

A police official says the death toll from bomb blasts that hit two sites in Uganda as people watched the World Cup final late Sunday has risen to 64.

Bombs exploded at two sites in Kampala during the game between Spain and the Netherlands. The deadliest attack occurred at a rugby club as people watched the game on a large-screen TV outdoors. The second blast took place at an Ethiopian restaurant.
Police Chief Kale Kaihura said he believed al-Shabab, Somalia's most feared militant group, could be responsible. Al-Shabab has pledged allegiance to al-Qaida. Kaihura earlier put the death toll at around 30, but a police official on site said the toll had risen to 64.
