Sri Lanka President participates in religious activities on Poson Poya Day


Sri Lanka President Mahinda Rajapaksa participated in several religious observances today (25) in observance of the Poson Poya Day.
President Rajapaksa and First Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa participated in a sermon delivered at the Temple Trees by Ven. Kotugoda Dhammawasa Nayaka Thera of Dharmapalaramaya in Mt. Lavinia.

Later, the President served meals to novice monks who were ordained today at a ceremony held to felicitate the completion of 50 years in ordained life of Ven. Dhammasiri Nayaka Thera at Maharagama Sri Vajiragnana Dharmayathanaya
Power and Energy Minister Patali Champika Ranwaka and former Justice Minister Milinda Moragoda also assisted the President.
President Rajapaksa attended a religious observances this afternoon at the Sithul Pahuwa Raja Maha Viharaya in Sithul Pahuwa in Southern Sri Lanka and later in the evening declared open an Aloka Pooja (lighting ceremony) at the temple
