The soldier who saluted Anoma Fonseka when she visited the War Hero’s memorial opposite the parliament complex has been transferred with immediate effect.
Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa had summoned the soldier to his office and questioned him after seeing a photograph of him saluting Anoma in an English newspaper.
The solider had said that he was following Army tradition by paying his respect to the wife of a former Army Commander.
However, the Defence Secretary had ordered the Army Commander to transfer the soldier with immediate effect.
