Jun 05, The Chief Prelates of Sri Lanka's Malwatta and Asgiriya Chapters have said that they would request President Mahinda Rajapaksa not to sign the proposed Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) with India. The Most Venerable Thibbotuwave Sri Siddhartha Sumangala Maha Nayaka Thero and Most Venerable Udagama Sri Buddharakkitha Thero have made this statement to representatives of the Colombo Young Lanka Businessmen's Association on Wednesday.
The representatives have expressed their doubts about CEPA to the chief prelates and that the President may sign the agreement during his Indian visit next week.
The chief prelates have said that the agreement should not be signed if it were to have an adverse impact on the Sri Lankan economy.
