Parliament sittings suspended for President’s anniversary celebration


The proposal to suspend parliamentary sittings to celebrate the President’s anniversary celebrations has been accepted by the governing party members while the opposition members have objected to it.

A proposal was presented at the party leader’s meeting on the 11th to suspend parliamentary sittings on the 18th and 19th during the scheduled sessions from the 17th till the 20th in order to enable governing party members attend the celebrations that have been organized on the 18th to celebrate the fourth anniversary of the President assuming office.

However, parliament sources said a final decision on the matter is to be taken when the party leader’s meet on


the 17th, which is the first day of sessions during the week.
