Israel's internal security agency says a Palestinian man rammed his car into a military jeep in the West Bank, flipping it over, and then attacked the agents inside with an ax.

UN set for implicit recognition of Palestinian state, despite US, Israel threats

The UN General Assembly is set to implicitly recognize a sovereign state of Palestine on Thursday despite threats by the United States and Israel to punish the Palestinian Authority by withholding much-needed funds for the West Bank government. A Palestinian resolution that would change the Palestinian Authority's UN observer status from "entity" to "non-member state," like the Vatican, is expected to pass easily in the 193-nation UN General Assembly.

Palestinian girls race through gender barrier

Palestinian women are speeding into the record books by competing in the first all-female car racing team — the Speed Sisters. Along the way, they're crashing through another gender barrier in this conservative Muslim society. The eight women have entered a popular race called 'Speed Test.' Souped-up cars race around a track, weaving their way around obstacles and spinning circles around others.

Israeli army strikes Gaza weapons workshop

GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip – The Israeli army says it carried out airstrikes on a weapons workshop east of Gaza City and two weapons smuggling tunnels under the Gaza-Egypt border.

Palestinian health officials reported no injuries.

The army says Saturday's strikes were in response to a mortar shell and a rocket fired at Israel from Gaza the day before.

A small extremist group, Ansar al-Sunna, said on Friday it fired two rockets at Israel.

Exchanges of fire between Israel and Gaza militants have increased in recent months after a period of relative quiet following Israel's Gaza offensive, which ended Jan. 18.

The Israeli army said about 60 rockets and mortar rounds have been fired at Israel in the last three months. Airstrikes followed some of those attacks.
