Sri Lankan mission in Kenya negotiating with pirates to secure release of Sri Lankans on board hijacked ship

Sri Lanka's External Affairs Ministry has said that the Sri Lankan mission in Kenya is currently negotiating with the pirates for assurances about the Sri Lankan crew onboard the Panama flagged merchant vessel which was hijacked by Somali pirates early in the month.

Sri Lanka removed from high risk war insurance list


Sri Lanka has been removed from the high risk war insurance list paving the way for increased business growth through reduction of import costs and removal of insurance surcharges, the External Affairs Ministry said in a statement Wednesday.

Sri Lanka rejects UN Panel of Experts

Sri Lanka today said it strongly opposes the appointment of the Panel of Experts by the United Nations Secretary-General on Tuesday and regards it as an unwarranted and unnecessary interference with a sovereign nation.
