Drunk youths pass lewd comments, harass famous models on train

Twenty-one models from Delhi and Mumbai boarded the Jalandhar Express on Monday at 5.30am, hoping to reach home as soon as possible after a hectic schedule at the Punjab International Fashion Week. Little did they know that they'd be kept awake for the most part of their journey in an effort to protect themselves from eve-teasers. These models, including Pantaloons Femina Miss India Earth 2009 Shriya Kishore, were repeatedly provoked by three drunken youths during the better part of their journey, until the models stood up and retaliated.

Muslim girls top national average in school enrolment

Enrolment of Muslim children in primary and upper primary classes in 2009-10 improved significantly with Muslim girls -- as was the trend in the previous two years -- again doing better than boys across the country.
In fact, at the upper primary level (class VI-VIII) the percentage of Muslim girls -- 49.97% -- has been higher than the national average of 48.04%.
