Only films with Tamil names get tax waiver, says TN govt

Nearly four years after the state government passed an order offering full waiver of entertainment tax for films with Tamil titles, it has talked tough, once again. On Monday, the information department issued a note saying, "Exemption from entertainment was announced for the development of Tamil language, but some people are naming films as per their wishes and seeking tax exemption. Films which do not abide by the original government order, and name the film in Tamil, will not be granted the waiver".

Vijay &Asin- The lucky pair is back!

The wait is over. Asin is back with a bang in Kollywood!

One of the most popular actors in Tamil cinema has agreed to be the leading lady opposite Ilayathalapathy Vijay in the Tamil remake of Malayalam Bodyguard!

Sources close to Asin have confirmed that she has finally given her nod to do the Tamil remake. It will be the hat trick film for one of the most popular pair in Tamil, Vijay and Asin who are coming together after the super success of Sivakasi and Pokkiri.

The film will be directed by Siddique who did the original and produced by Sivaraju Venkatraju of Geetha Chitra International, who last made Priymanavale with Vijay in 2000.

Actually three years back when director Siddique had narrated the story to Asin she had promised to do it in Tamil, if Vijay was the hero. Asin is one person who never breaks a promise. And when Siddique after the release of Malayalam Bodyguard featuring Nayanthara and Dileep, said that he was ready with producer Raju’s backing and Vijay’s call sheet, Asin gave the green signal.

Siddique’s Bodyguard is basically a beautiful love story and the heroine is the pivot around which the film revolves. Remember that in Malayalam, Nayanthara had done a brilliant job, which is one of her best performance till date.

Please note Asin in all her interviews has made it clear that she will do a south film if she gets a good script. In a way if Asin does the role in Tamil, it will be a fantastic come back for the actress.

Asin always wanted a pan Indian presence and after all doing a movie in south will enhance her repertoire of films.

Siddique who is now reworking the script is a very happy man, because he wrote the original keeping Asin in mind. The shoot of Bodyguard in Tamil is likely to start in the middle of March in Chennai.

Ileana returns to Tamil with '24'

Ileana will pair up with Vikram in the lead for '24', directed by 'Yaavarum Nalam' fame Vikram K Kumar.

This will be her second film in Tamil. Her debut film in Kollywood was 'Kedi', which was a massive flop.

Since then she has been refusing several offers to act in Tamil. Ileana's refusal to act in a Rajnikanth film had hit headlines last year.

Director Vikram himself made it clear that the Tollywood hottie had given him the dates for '24'. He said, "We have signed Ileana for '24'. She has given us dates from February for the second schedule of the film."

Tabu returns to Tamil

Tabu is et to come back to Kollywood again. This time she will appear in the remake of her Hindi movie Hawa to Tamil. The movie did have some hot scenes of the actress and the same is expected in Tamil too. The Tamil version is titled Raja LeelaiThe movie Hawa is taken from the inspiration from horror film The Entity (1982), by Sidney Furie. The movie got released in 2003. The story tells about a divorcee who gets fancied by a spirit in the new bunglow of her. What happens next lies the climax.


Other cast included Shahbaz Khan, Mukesh Tiwari, Imran Khan, Grusha Kapoor, Vishwajeet Pradhan, Amit Behl and Avtar Gill in lead roles. Hawa was written by Sutanu Gupta and directed by Guddu Dhanoa. Raja Leelai will be released by Hamsa Lingam on the banner Gururaja International.
