The pro-LTTE Tamil Nadu political leader, the general secretary of the MDMK, V. Goplasamy aka Vaiko has expressed his dissatisfaction that the draft resolution against Sri Lanka sponsored by the United States to be tabled at the UNHRC is not tough enough and would not bring any justice to Tamils.
After leading protests earlier demanding the Indian government to support the resolution, the MDMK leader has criticized the draft resolution saying that it does not contain the word 'genocide' and even the word 'torture', which was in an earlier version has been removed. He has said that resolution fails to condemn human rights abuses and does not urge an independent international investigation. "This resolution which is being brought by the US is not one that will bring justice to Lankan Tamils," Indian media quoted Vaiko. He has reiterated that only a separate Eelam can deliver the justice to Sri Lankan Tamils. Vaiko has called for all the Tamils across the world to come together to evict the Sinhalese from Tamil Nadu. The pro-LTTE leader has demanded an end to the military training given to Sri Lankan defence personnel, an independent international inquiry and a referendum among Sri Lankan Tamils for a separate state.
