Controversial Sri Lankan Minister seeks Prime Minister post

The controversial Sri Lankan Minister of Public Relations Mervyn Silva today demanded he be given the post of Prime Minister since he was the most suitable person in the Sri Lanka Freedom Party for the post.
He said that his family members were murdered, his house was burnt, and he was jailed since he did politics with the present President Mahinda Rajapaksa. He argued that he should be the most reliable person to the President. Minister Silva summoned a press briefing today to respond to a statement made by the former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga regarding a past incident. Referring to the incident where Minister Silva tied a Samurdhi employee to a tree, the former President has reportedly said that she had the good fortune to feed Silva's family including their helper for some time. Minister Silva also appealed the President Mahinda Rajapaksa to give a good Ministry to the President's son Namal Rajapaksa to render a good service to the country. He requested the President to pave him way to be the next state leader of the country. -->
