President of Sri Lanka Appellate Court threatened

President of Sri Lanka's Appellate Court Justice S. Sriskandarajah has lodged a complaint in police that he was threatened over the phone. According to the judge's complaint, the caller had threatened him not to appear in the hearing of petition filed by the Chief Justice Dr. Shirani Bandaranaike against the Parliamentary Select Committee that probed the impeachment motion against her. The judge's son has responded to the call that was received in the night of January 06, according to the complaint. Police say that the investigations are underway and it is found that the call was made from a public telephone in Rajagiriya. Justice S. Skandarajah was a member of the panel of judges that heard the petition of the Chief Justice. Last week the chairman of the Parliamentary Select Committee Minister of Environment Anura Priyadarshana Yapa received a threatening phone call from a caller who demanded the Minister not to get involved in the impeachment of the Chief Justice.
