Sri Lankan conglomerate Hayleys Group has refurbished the former Ceylon Intercontinental Hotel situated at the far end of Galle Face in Colombo at a cost of US$ 18 million and given it a new name.Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa declared open the new luxury hotel named Hotel Kingsbury Monday (17).
Hayleys, the parent group of The Kingsbury, has invested heavily in training all categories of staff in preparation to deliver a star class hospitality and service. The hotel has invested in bringing in international expertise, recruiting experienced professionals for key positions.
The Kingsbury is strongly positioned to cater to and benefit from the fast growing business and tourism markets.
Hayleys, one of Sri Lanka's oldest and largest diversified conglomerates with a history spanning over 134 years, has a strong presence in the leisure industry with several resorts tours and travel agencies.
Ministers Basil Rajapaksa, Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena, Governor of the Central Bank Ajith Nivard Cabraal, Mayor of Colombo A.J. M. Muzammil and, Deputy Chairman of Hayleys Group of Companies Dammika Perera were present at the opening.
