Sri Lanka deported over 1,000 foreigners this year for violating visa regulations



Sri Lanka Department of Immigration and Immigration says that over 1,000 foreign nationals engaged in various unscrupulous activities violating visa regulations were arrested and deported this year. The arrests have been made by the intelligence monitoring and raid unit of the Department of Immigration and Immigration. Sources say that a massive racket of human smuggling is taking place in relation to prostitution. Certain locals are engaged in trafficking women for prostitution and selling them for Rs. 25,000 each for brothels. Two such women were arrested yesterday, sources said. Meanwhile another large number of foreigners are engaged in selling items like mobile phones door to door violating visa regulations. Department of Immigration and Immigration says that stern action will be taken against foreigners engaged in crime and violation of immigration and emigration regulations and they will be penalized and deported.
