Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa today (December 02) declared open the Maga Neguma Construction and Equipment Training Institute and Modernized Equipment workshop in Kundasale in Kandy district.
The construction machinery training institute was established under a concept of President Rajapaksa to provide training on operating construction machinery such as motor graders and excavators as operators of such machinery are in great demand both locally and internationally.
Addressing the event, the President said the government has provided opportunity to provide overseas training to the technicians who successfully complete their local training. He said that the workers who construct the roads should be upgraded to the status of a technician.

The President also launched the Maga Neguma website.
The Chairman of the Maga Neguma Construction Machinery Company Kingsley Ranawaka, Ministers Keheliya Rambukwella and S.B. Dissanayake, Deputy Minister Nirmala Kotelawala, Secretary to the Ministry of Highways and Ports R.W.R. Premasiri, Central Province Governor Tikiri Kobbekaduwa and Chief Minister of the Central Province Sarath Ekanayake also participated in the occasion.
