Vaiko and his convoy stopped in MP


MDMK leader Vaiko along with his hundreds of supporters in a convoy was stopped on Wednesday, minutes after they entered Bad Chicholi area of this district in Madhya Pradesh (MP) with a mission to greet Sri Lankan president Mahindra Rajpaksa with black flag, who is slated to grace a function on September 21 in Raisen district of the state.
"Vaiko along with his supporters have been stopped at Bad Chicholi around 4.10 pm. We are holding talks with him for an amicable solution," Jabalpur police range inspector general of police V Madhukumar told TOI. He said prohibitatory order under section 144 of CrPC had been clamped in Bad Chicholi. "We haven't arrested him yet. There is a lakshman rekha (border) and if he crosses it, we are going to go by the book, the IGP said. "I have already informed Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan about our peaceful protest and sentiment of the Tamil people," Vaiko told reporters. He said they were going to lodge peaceful protest in democratic way. He said that the voice of oppressed people should not be stifled in undemocratic way. Vaiko had left Tamil Nadu two days back and her reached Nagpur in the morning from where he has entered Madhya Pradesh. Vaiko convoy include around 27 four-wheelers. -->
